On our recent 6,200 mile road trip across the country, we spent a lot of time in rest stops and were impressed by the differences in each state. Some were horrible, and some were quite lovely. One of the lovely ones was this shaded spot in Benton, Illinois. Playground, clean toilets, walk area, and picnic tables. Really a relaxing place to stop. Generally the same with Illinois rest areas we saw.
